The economy may be failing, gas prices are up and the housing market is down, but you can still have fun this summer. You just might have to be a little more frugal.
Yes, I'm going to try to get as many summer classes in so I can get out of school as quickly as possible, but I'm not going to be a workaholic. It's summer! Let loose a little, relax and enjoy the amazing state of California.
There are so many beautiful beaches you can go to and go camping at or just take a day trip to such as Santa Cruz, Monterey, Pismo and Carmel just to name a few.
Santa Cruz is one of my favorite places to go because not only are there amazing beaches but there's the boardwalk which is almost an all day event. There are rides, concerts, funnel cakes, and garlic fries.
Or forget the sandy beaches and go relax up in the mountains and find a fun lake to swim in. Pinecrest, Strawberry, just head up to the Sonora area and take a hike in the beautiful scenery. Pinecrest Lake is a really fun place to hang out and rent a paddle boat, kayak, row boat or just take a dip in the lake with inner tubes.
For those who aren't so adventurous or need to stay close to home, there are things around town to participant in, too.
Whether it's relaxing by the pool, reading a book under the shade of a tree there are plenty of low key things to do.
As for concerts there is Summerfest in June which is for all ages, or X-fest which is in downtown Modesto for the 21 and over crowd.
Don't forget to go out and check out local bands, have a garden party with your friends, bowling, movie dates or movie nights there is definitely many ways to have fun this summer.
As for me, I will be kicking off the end of the semester with little get-togethers with my friends, graduation parties and some good old relaxation. And then I head down south for some Disney fun but cheaply.
I will be staying with my friends who live down in L.A. where I'll be able to chill and hang out at Laguna and Huntington Beach.
