Goodbye to Stanislaus, and all of its residents

Issue date: 5/21/08 Section: Opinion
After two years here at California State University, Stanislaus, my time as a Warrior is drawing to a close, as I'm off to Northern California and Chico to complete my college degree come August.
I feel that a proper goodbye is due to our beloved campus, with its quirks, flaws and redeeming aspects that only the student population could truly grasp.
This article is for all of those things, and to all of those who called themselves Turlockians with me.
To the campus police, who've probably missed 23 rapes and 17 murders while stopping freshmen in the Village from drinking Coors Light and giving out tickets for not "coming to a complete stop" on campus roads.
And, along the same line, to the parking lot security guards. Apparently none of you has anything better to do than to give out over-priced, ridiculous tickets 23 hours a day. Hope you enjoy the roughly $100 I've given the Parking Bureau over the last couple of years. Cheers.
To the ever-multiplying families of geese, thanks for waiting until 6 a.m. to come visit my window and squawk at me until I'm forced to get up, bleary eyed, from bed. And, that one time where I swear I didn't chase after a pair of them with a semi-automatic Nerf gun. Never happened. I swear.
To ASI, which has never, ever taken itself too seriously, nor had a laughable, false image about how insignificant their role is in the grand scheme of things.
Of course, joking aside, there have been a bunch of things that will always make me look back on my time here in a positive light.
To the professors, who, with the exception of someone in the biology department (feel free to guess) are so funny, genuine and down to earth, you've made my general education and initial major classes go by seamlessly, and enjoyably.
To the people. CSU Stanislaus has one of the most laid back, diverse and interesting student population you could ask for, and I'll always raise a glass. And on that note, to my people specifically, who I've shared good laughs, good times and strong drinks with. This is for you.
To the Signal, we may misspell "Stanislaus" on the front page of the official newspaper of CSU Stanislaus, but we mean well, and love you all.
And, finally, to the campus itself. With shining ponds, friendly ducks and a peaceful aura, you seclude us all from the ocular hideousness of the Central Valley, and I'm thankful for that.
So, if you're a graduating student, a student transferring out like myself, or you're just feeling proud to be a Warrior, raise a glass to CSU Stanislaus tonight (just make sure it's milk if you're in the Village).
