Stop Motion, just getting going

Clark and Devin have many musical influences. Together they are both influenced by the Beatles, Pinback, Barenaked Ladies, Blue October, Paul Simon and Imogen Heap.
Individually, Devin allows heavier music and jazz to influence him, and Clark is influenced by bands such as Coldplay and U2.
Stop Motion Poetry's biggest goal is to start making some money out of the band so they can quit their day jobs. While Devin attends CSU Stanislaus, they are both graphic designers.
Karen McCarthy loves the band's name, calling it "unique and original." She seemed mildly surprised to find out that the band hasn't always been called Stop Motion Poetry.
Originally, the band was called The Evening News.
"Once we did some new recordings and made some changes on the business end, we decided to change the name to Stop Motion Poetry," Clark said.
The band was almost renamed Poetry in Motion, but the name eventually evolved into Stop Motion Poetry.
"It has more to do with capturing the feeling of life being poetic than it has to do with stop motion," said Clark .
For those who don't know, stop motion is an animation technique that makes a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own.
Anyone who is interested in auditioning for the guitarist or drummer position for Stop Motion Poetry can e-mail the band at stopmotionpoetry@gmail.com.
"Being able to create something that will last forever is the highest goal," said Devin. He also added that he wouldn't mind having a "rich guy" paying for all their EP costs … and he wouldn't mind a fog machine for their live shows.
