During the past years, students at California State University, Stanislaus have always been viewed as having school spirit, perhaps due to a lack of motivation or spark. This year, the Warrior Squad wants to make a difference and wants more student participation.

The young women in the Warrior Squad seem extremely ambitious and willing to do what it takes for CSU Stanislaus to get back its spark.

Warrior Squad member Hyrelle Lubiano said school spirit adds a better college experience for the students and that the school pride has been lacking for a long time.

"Students should have pride in the school that they go to," Lubiano said. "The school spirit adds more opportunities and it is a for students to get more involved with their school."

"Some ideas that we want to create are Associated Students Inc. programs that will get the students more involved and athletic cards that give the students more points if the students attend different athletic games," Lubiano said.

"The students will be able to exchange their athletic cards for prizes such as parking permits or tuition," Lubiano said.

Squad member Rachel Garcia said more energy needed to be infused into the school.

"When I graduate college, I want to be proud of Stanislaus and I want the students to be proud as well," Garcia said.

"Some ideas that the Warrior Squad has are to enhance school competition by wearing the colors of our school and by giving back to the students," Garcia said.

"Giving car washes to students is another idea that the Warrior Squad has," Garcia said. "It's important to give back to the students so that they know that their college cares about them and the college deserves to be treated with respect and pride."

Ayla Sellers, another Warrior Squad member, suggested that Stanislaus students do not have as much pride as they should, but will get the opportunity if the Warrior Squad can promote school spirit by interacting more with the students, such as hosting tailgates.
