Econ club picnic honors scholars

Faculty of the economics department bid farewell to graduating seniors, awarded scholarships to students, and honored new student members to the Economics honor society, Omicron Delta Epsilon.
"The picnic is something that is done every year in which we give out scholarships and say goodbye to our seniors," said economics professor Kelvin Jasek-Rysdahl. "We gave out close to $35,000 worth in scholarships to 16 students."
Students Christina Kelley and Lucy Lopez received the biggest scholarship awarded, the Max and Verda Foster Memorial Scholarship.
Kelley also received the J. Burton Vasche Memorial Scholarship while student Orlando Zaragoza won the K.C. & Izzy Hoddle Scholarship and a Tom Foster Memorial scholarship, which was named after a former student from CSU, Stanislaus.
Other students who received the Tom Foster Memorial Scholarship were Chance Carrico, Melissa Sanchez, Katherine Molthen, Christopher Marcallino, John Sarhadi, Demetrios Zarefakis, Aimee Simes and Michael Salegui.
Students Logan Champion and Paul Spagnola received the Renning Scholarships while Sean Newland received the Fred Kottke Scholarship in accounts to his demonstration of student leadership.
Awarded as the Most Outstanding Economics student of the year was Michelle Nunez receiving the James Brownlee Award.
The Economics International Honor Society, Omicron Delta Epsilon recognized nine students along with an alumni student after the scholarship recognitions.
The Economics Club picnic is takes place every spring semester.
