From Bubblegum to Sky delivers on new indie/pop record 'A Soft Kill'

Mario Hernandez and his one man indie/pop band "From Bubblegum to Sky" look to change the way pop music is heard. They want it to be something raw; something to be feared.
Hernandez describes his new album, "A Soft Kill", as being "organic and drunk." This style is clearly heard in the opening track "Say Goodbye" in which Hernandez mixes basic pop chords with soft, Lennon-esque lyrics, creating that raw drunk sound indistinct to modern pop recordings.
Another notable song shares the name of the album. "A Soft Kill" starts with a guitar and bass duo that is akin to "The Beach Boys" but Hernandez' lyrics switch it up, taking the light hearted sound and making it a little bit foreboding. It is a very nice and well executed effect that carries out throughout the track.
Track four, "Even the Sunbeams", is what we would get if "A Little Help From my Friends" had a child with "All You Need Is Love". This second similarity to the sound of the "Beatles" comes as no surprise as Hernandez sites the fab four as one of his main musical influences after coming to America from Japan.
"Guest Relations" is From Bubblegum to Sky's love ballad. Crooning "Let's stay in bed baby/lets stay up late baby/let's wake up late baby" Hernandez crafts a sugar sweet indie/pop track that I would not be surprised to see gain mainstream cred in one of those "Juno-ish" indie films.
If you ever wanted to jump into indie music let From Bubblegum to Sky be your diving board. The pop qualities are candy for the ears and the oddities and nostalgia from that "drunk" sound create a unique listening experience.
