49er faithful, the time has come once again that we can truly hate the Dallas Cowboys for who they are - scummy, soulless, immoral criminals who would much rather spend their money "making it rain" than giving to charity.

In-between the "drug ring" teams of the '90s and the current collection of convicts and low lifes, the Cowboys went through a down period: both performance and personality wise, rapidly lulling to sleep the rivalry between the 49ers and Cowboys, and honestly my hatred for the Dallas based ballclub.

The only excitement during this era was the 49ers blowout in Dallas in the Jeff Garcia years, when Terrell Owens promptly scored a touchdown, and went out to spike the ball on the Dallas star at midfield.

And, the next time he scored, Owens went out there to do it again.

This time, though, the Cowboys defense had had it, as defensive back George Teague blindsided Owens; making things ugly between the two teams just like the good old days.

Coincidentally, it is Terrell Owens signing with the Cowboys that re-initiated the Cowboys into being the official "jackass" roster of the National Football League.

Now, with Owens already waiting to bring down an entire locker room again, the Cowboys have added two more less than favorable citizens: in Tank Johnson and Adam "Pacman" Jones.

During the Summer of 2007, Johnson and Jones were the two runners-up to the Michael Vick investigation; and overall the attempt to cleanse the NFL by new, disciplinarian commissioner Roger Goodell: who hasn't been afraid to pull the trigger on season-long suspension for the thugs of the league.

Now, in the late 1980s and 1990s, the Cowboys were basically full of hatable characters: pretty much everybody on the team besides Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith - especially head coach Barry Switzer of the late 90s, who was charged with weapons possession at an airport during his tenure in Big D.

Now, the hatables on this team may be narrowed down to Owens, Jones and Johnson, but it still feels lovely to hate the Cowboys, and remember the Catch, over, and over, and over again.

The drug ring is back in Dallas, California. The 49ers play the Cowboys next year, but it's in Dallas, as most of the team can't leave due to a possible parole violation.

Let's just hope that Shaun King will be at the helm for the 49ers: as Alex Smith would likely give up 17 picks to Pacman Jones. Aaron Rodgers, where art thou?
