Priority registration at California State University, Stanislaus will start May 12 for students who plan to register for summer and fall classes.

Those planning to register for summer classes can still use the old registration Web site, but students registering for fall will have to plan ahead.

Seniors have the advantage to register first, freshman register second followed by juniors and sophomores. Because all California State University schools converted from their old software to PeopleSoft, students will have to change their passwords to register.

"The Web site is really easy to use," said Mariette Araya, Common Management System Project director.

When it is time to register for classes, students will need to go to the MyCsustan from the Quicklinks on the school Web site. When they enter the Web site, the screen will ask if you're a current or new student for summer or fall.

Current and new students need to click on the "initial sign in/reset password" to change their passwords for registering online.

"It is important to change your password because it is easy to get people's birthday and login using other students information," Araya said. Knowing someone's birthday allows people to change information. Changing a password can increase security.

Once the password is changed, students are set to register for classes once they learn their registration date.

Students should check their e-mail to find out their registration dates and times before May 12. Anyone having trouble with finding out or online problems, should contact Financial Services at 667-3063.
