The California State University, Stanislaus Track and Field team has overcome a few hurdles this season from the track under construction to a new coach but still they hold high hopes for the season.

This past weekend Warrior Track and Field athletes were scheduled to compete at University of California Berkley in the Cal All Corners Meet but it was cancelled due to the weather. The next track meet will be March 1 at San Francisco State.

The team has been practicing since October and that has not been easy with the missing track and field. New head Track and Field Coach Geoff Bradshaw said it has just been something they have had to adapt to since traveling the Modesto Junior College to practice is such a hassle.

"We've improvised and practiced on any open grass and dirt areas around campus. There has been lots of running on dirt and that includes the mud. We are a utility vehicle." Bradshaw said.

Bradshaw is an Alumni of CSU Stanislaus and Track and Field. After graduating he became an assistant coach of the Warrior Track and Field team for 3 years. He returned this year after being offered the position of Head Coach for Track and Field.

"I think it's every athletes dream to go back to the institution they attended. It has been a good feeling coming back here but I sure have a tough act to follow." Bradshaw said.

Bradshaw is referring to previous Head Coach Kim Duyst who was promoted to Associated Athletic Director for compliance and team management.

Coach Bradshaw is still looking for women track and field athletes to join the team. For information contact Bradshaw at (209) 664-6839.
