Traffic pet peeves we all share

The nightmare is about to be upon us. Many of us had to brave the roads already for the Thanksgiving holiday. I myself had to travel over 300 miles to reach home to visit my family for turkey day and I know others made the same trek.

For those of you who somehow managed to stay at home for Thanksgiving and the day of crazy shopping afterward, congratulations. However, now comes an even bigger obstacle to face down on the roads, Christmas time.

I know that people have families to visit and that we all want to get done with our drives as fast as possible, myself included, and it is because of this that I have some issues with drivers today.

I have nothing against those who drive fast; I admit that I am one of those who weaves between traffic, oh well. But for the people who drive too slow, move it! I understand that the speed limit is 70 or 65 mph, but who really moves that fast? Or that slow, I should say?

My biggest pet peeve on the road, I would have to say, are the drivers that break without need. When I am following behind you and all of a sudden your breaks come on, forcing me to burn my breaks. There darn well better be another car in front of you pushing on their breaks too. When I pass you I do not want to see a 50-foot gap between you and the next car.

I know that this may seem harsh, and some people drive safer than others, but there really is no need for that. Please don't make me ruin my brakes because you feel that you are going too fast. If you really think that you are moving a bit too quickly, then move over and slow down in the slow lane where you belong.

Speaking of slow drivers, who has not had to deal with the trucks that travel on the 99 and the 5 freeways? I know that the drive south on the 99 narrows down to two lanes for a long time, there is not much that irritates me more than a semi-truck cutting into the fast lane in order to move around another slow moving truck.

It is understandable that they would want to move around slow drivers as much as I would, but they need to wait for a time when there are no cars to pass. They slow down the fast lane to almost a crawl as they slowly inch around the truck they are trying to pass. Wait, when there is a clear spot, then you can move as slow as you want.
