FRESNO - The California State University, Stanislaus men's basketball took a quick, 3-0 start for the season as they defeated Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) 85-77 and Fresno Pacific, 71-65 in the Fresno Pacific Thanksgiving Shootout this past weekend.
Joseph Malone came off the bench to lead the way offensively for CSU Stanislaus with 17 points, knocking in three for five from the three-point range and grabbing 5 rebounds against TAMIU.
Brett Sayad has 16 points in the game, four for seven from long range, five rebounds and one assist with four minutes left.
Reggie Jones also contributed with 13 points, three rebounds and one assist while Marcus Walters and Vincent Fuller dropped nine to add to their lead, with the Warriors Shooting 50 percent from three-point range.
After defeating TAMIU in the first game of the tournament, CSU Stanislaus went on to conquer the hosts of the tournament, Fresno Pacific. The Warriors came out on fire in the second half shooting 72 percent from the field. The win against Fresno Pacific extended the Warriors winning streak to three games.
Reggie Jones led CSU Stanislaus with 16 points, making eight for 10 shots, grabbing four rebounds and three assists.
Vincent Fuller contributed with his 13 points, three rebounds and eight assists to lead the Warriors in assists. Ronnie Sawyer knocked in 14 points, making six for nine, with two rebounds and five assists.
Overall, the Warriors shot 58 percent (29 for 50) for the night as they nailed eight for 19 from the three-point range (42.1%).
Eric Hipolito led the way for the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds with 20 points and nine rebounds as they now falls to 5-2 for their season.
The Warriors take their undefeated streak on the road this weekend traveling to face the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and the San Francisco State Gators in San Francisco on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
