Provost William Covino will be leaving California State University Stanislaus at the end of this spring semester. Covino has been selected to serve as the new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at CSU Fresno. In his place, Dr. Herman D. Lujan will serve a one-year term as the Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for CSU Stanislaus. University President Hamid Shirvani recently released a letter to all faculty and staff regarding Covino's new placement within the CSU system.

"I appreciate very much all of the contributions Bill has made during the past three years at CSU Stanislaus, and wish him the very best as he takes on this new and exciting opportunity," Shirvani said.

Lujan has several years experience as a Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs within the CSU system. He has previously worked at CSU Los Angeles, CSU Polytechnic University Pomona, and he is currently Provost and VP of Academic Affairs at the CSU Maritime Academy.

"I am confident that Dr. Lujan has the skills and expertise necessary to help guide our University through the difficult challenges that lie ahead," Shirvani said in a recent letter to staff.

Lujan will be making several trips to campus before his official start date of July 1.
