By July 1, California drivers are expected to be in compliance with the new cell-phone bill that was signed into law by Gov. Schwarzenegger in September 2006.

The 22-month lapse was meant to give people time to buy the hands-free equipment and learn how to use it before authorities began enforcing the law.

It was a different time. The draft was still well in effect, promising veterans they would be covered when they finished duty. Such was the story of the veterans of World War II and Vietnam, but what about veterans today, the veterans of the post 9/11 era?

With the new bill going through Congress and positive goings-on on the California State University, Stanislaus campus, life is about to get better for veterans.

Every semester students across campus scramble to finish term papers and study for finals, wishing that they could have just a few extra hours in the day to finish their work.

For freshman Maria Gonzalez, finding these extra hours last fall meant turning to the power of caffeinated drinks like coffee, soda and Red Bull.

After two years here at California State University, Stanislaus, my time as a Warrior is drawing to a close, as I'm off to Northern California and Chico to complete my college degree come August.

I feel that a proper goodbye is due to our beloved campus, with its quirks, flaws and redeeming aspects that only the student population could truly grasp.

The economy may be failing, gas prices are up and the housing market is down, but you can still have fun this summer. You just might have to be a little more frugal.

Yes, I'm going to try to get as many summer classes in so I can get out of school as quickly as possible, but I'm not going to be a workaholic.

There are so many controversial topics in today's society: gay marriage, human cloning, and the never-ending moral value topic of abortion. Is it the right or wrong thing to do? Is it considered murder or a woman's right to choose over what to do with her life and body?

In high school, I thought it was wrong.
